Embryo Transfer with On-site Recipient Presence
At Arcadia, we offer Embryo Transfer (ET) as a solution for mares facing reproductive challenges or those involved in competitive sports.
This procedure enables the mare to carry and give birth to a foal with the help of a recipient mare. The recipient mare, fully nurturing the foal with care and affection, does not pass on any of its own traits to the offspring.
The Embryo Transfer is performed in a quick, non-invasive, and completely painless manner, typically 7-9 days after the fertilization of the donor mare.
The uterine flushing process, which lasts between 10-20 minutes, involves the removal of the embryo from the donor mare’s uterus.
The collected uterine fluid is filtered to identify and extract the embryo. The donor mare will not experience any adverse effects from the procedure, ensuring her well-being and readiness for further reproduction or athletic competition.
The recipient mare will then carry the foal to term, ensuring the foal’s healthy development in a safe environment.
The donor mare will be free to perform her athletic career or rest if she is aged.
